Celebrating 30 Years
In 1952 the merchants in Dickson, Tennessee under the direction of the Chamber of Commerce began The Credit Bureau of Dickson. During the inflation period of the late 1970’s and early 1980’s the bureau fell on hard times.
In June 1980 Bart Howard, a local businessman with a recently closed finance company, agreed to buy the credit bureau for $1.00 and began a debt collection service for local businesses and medical services.
During the next few years Howard purchased other small local credit bureaus in the Middle Tennessee area and expanded the collection services footprint. By 1986, the then Mid-State Credit Bureau was one of the leading debt recovery agencies in Middle Tennessee.
In 1986 Mid-State sold its credit files to TransUnion, a growing national automated credit bureau. Mid State offered automated credit reporting and collection service to merchants in Tennessee for the next decade. During those years Howard began the process of nationalizing his debt recovery services, and Credit Bureau of North America was born.
During the next decade Credit Bureau of North America enjoyed steady growth as a debt buyer and collection service specializing in credit card, government, and medical recovery. In 2006 Howard decided that a bigger national presence was in the future, and a new modern building was planned to house a secure call center to serve a growing national debt recovery market. In October 2007 The Bureau moved to its new building and began the client building process. In January 2009 The Bureau ceased offering credit reporting services, and CBNA was born.
Today, CBNA has a financially sound, data secure, and modern automated debt recovery call center. A bilingual staff provides debt recovery services for national clients from coast to coast. A valued national client recently said…”there is not another agency in the nation that can do a better job of handling my business and maintaining my good reputation.”
